48 Hours in Cannes

48 Hours in Cannes

Our last stop in the French Riviera was Cannes. We didn’t realize until after we booked our trip and were looking up things to do that we found out we would be visiting during the Cannes Film Festival. Although it was quite crowded, we enjoyed our time in this swanky town.

Our vlog from our time in Cannes is now live on my Youtube Channel so be sure to check it out here.

We stayed at the JW Marriott which was in the perfect location to be walking distance to not only the film festival, but also the beach clubs, restaurants, & shopping.

The warm welcome we received from the hotel was very thoughtful and a perfect way to end our honeymoon trip in the French Riviera.

We were intrigued to see that many celebrities were staying at our hotel - Warner Brothers had the entire floor above our room completely reserved for them. Although we didn’t run into any celebrities we recognized, each day we ventured out there were lots of people waiting outside the hotel entrance eagerly waiting with their phones/cameras to hopefully get photos of socialites leaving the hotel. Unbeknownst to them, the A-listers had their own entrance/exit to the JW Marriott that was on the side of the hotel.

After walking around some to see the city, we worked up quite an appetite so we stopped by Grill and Wines for a delicious steak dinner. This restaurant specializes in beef from France, Argentina, & Japan. Fred and I both ordered Argentinian beef with sides of french fries & mashed potatoes. Our waitress also recommended a glass of Malbec to accompany our meat and it was the perfect pairing!

We did have one run in with celebrities, while Fred and I were walking down the street back to our hotel one evening, we realized we were walking right behind Ciara and Russell Wilson! We noticed that they walked into one of the restaurants/beach clubs we had been eyeing but unfortunately we were not able to get a reservation at. I’m certain we will be back in Cannes in the future though and we will try again. La Môme Plage was the name of the restaurant in case you want to save it. 😉

This particular evening Fred and I went out to have some drinks after dinner and we met a few girls from Paris who were in town for the film festival. It was interesting to learn from locals about the festival. They told us that they would sit in the theatre from 8:00 in the morning until almost 9:00 at night watching films back to back. We were shocked to hear this as we just thought guests would watch 1 film at a time to be rated/reviewed.

You might remember this superyacht above “Northern Escape” from our Saint-Tropez vlog. It was pretty cool to see that they were hopping throughout the French Riviera towns just as we were. Also if you haven’t checked out our Saint-Tropez vlog click here to watch it.

Our last dinner was at Le Park 45, which was just a short walk from our hotel. They brought over a case filled with freshly caught fishes and Fred and I chose one for our entree to share - which they even filleted table-side, quite the experience. Both the food and the service were exceptional at this restaurant and I would certainly recommend it!

This last photo is an ode to my late Aunt Sis - as she was an avid lover of all things butterflies. The carpeted area at our hotel in Cannes had butterflies in it and I felt as though I had to snap a photo to remember this moment.

I hope you enjoyed this series of blog posts from our honeymoon trip. Leave me a comment below if you’ve visited any of the places we went or which one is on your bucket list - if any!
